It doesn’t look like much, just a button with the word ‘Special’ written on it. That’s just because I haven’t come up with a kool image to use it yet. This button will eventually allow you to easily add almost anything to a page in your book.

This button will let you use any ‘plugin’ that has been developed to work with a tobors book. Adding a video to a page was very easy to do. It uses a specialized ‘plugin’ that I developed for video (because everyone is into online video these days). Continue reading »

The button with the video displayed on it is obviously the button that you use to add a video to a page in your story.

The only video format that you can use is FLV (FLash Video) files. This is the same type of video files that most sites on the web already use (e.g. Youtube).

For this lesson, I will assume that you have an FLV video file that you can use. We won’t get into how to change a different type of video file to an FLV file here.

When you click the button, a window opens up to let you browser your computer to find an FLV file. If you don’t have one, you can use the one in the images folder in the I_Like_to_Paint folder. It’s the one that comes with the sample book.

All you have to do is select your video and it will be put right into the book. When you save the page, the video file is saved with it. That’s all there is to it.

We have discussed three of the six Image Buttons. They were the three located in the top row. The button with the silhouette of a walking man is the Animation Button.

What will it do?

By clicking this button, you will be able to add a Flash animation to the Image area of any page in your book.As a result, and the Image portion of any page in your book is not limited to being a static image. Continue reading »

Hmm, the third Image Button has the kitty cat picture with some crayons ON TOP of it. The button with just the cat on it is used to add a picture to a page in your story. The button with the crayons on it allows you to make a drawing for the page.

What does this button let you do?

It will let you draw on top of an image. Continue reading »

In this posting I am going to explain to you exactly how to create a typical (generic) page for a Tobors Book.

There are 5 Tab Buttons across the top. Four of them are numbered, for convenience sake. The Select Panel is what was displayed when you started Tobors BookMaker. It gave you three possible choices: NEW, CHANGE and COPY. They have already been explained. Continue reading »

This has also been a long time in the making, but it is definitely worth the wait.

Gone is the ‘canned’ voice that did all the talking in previous versions of Book Maker.

You now MUST have a microphone in order to write a book (if you expect to hear the words in your book).

Now each word in a book can be recorded, using a very simple method. It’s easy enough to get very young children to record each word using their own voice. I’m going to explain how I was able to get a two and a half year old girl to record the words to her story.

The Voice Recorder is only available during the SAVE function of Book Maker. If for some reason you want to make changes to the speech in a book, all you have to do is start Book Maker, and click the CHANGE (EDIT) button. Then click the Book (from the scrolling Book Menu) that you want to Edit. Continue reading »
